Cabot Creamery

Cabot Creamery is a nearly century-old cooperative owned by dairy farmers in Vermont and upstate New York. In response to market trends, they recently developed a line of reduced-fat cheddar cheeses, and wanted to reach health care professionals (and consumers) with print materials touting the health benefits of low-fat cheddar cheese. Although Cabot had prospered for many years through word of mouth and the efforts of an internal marketing team, they sensed that they needed a sharper approach to reach this professional audience.

Cabot enlisted us and we immediately went to work. We began by taking the content from the brochure Cabot had developed, completely reorganizing it for a better read, while creating a new, textured look of rustic sophistication. A playful combination of a sans-serif and a display font gave headlines new life, while a palette of red, brown, and cream worked to convey the healthful-and-tasty message as well as the authenticity of the dairy-farmer source. The chief challenge of the project was the fact that the client had never successfully worked with an outside agency. Our creative work was completely embraced by the client, who asked us to design further collateral as well as print advertising based on the new look.
