New Year, New Look

The New Year can be a time for personal reinvention—and Burger King and the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) took that to heart, each relaunching new looks. “Our choice to remove the color blue was somewhat symbolic of Burger King's recent removal of colors, flavors, and preservatives from artificial sources," said Lisa Smith, executive creative director at Jones Knowles Ritchie, in a Deezen article. The CIA’s website redesign (creator unknown, according to The New York Times) “is set against a stark black background, offset by dots and lines that form topographical contours. There are subtle hallmarks of modern web design, like the site’s animated scroll. The crisp lines and muted color palette suggest a minimalist branding strategy.”
